Officers

Robert A. Wilson, Jr. Chairman
Robert A. Wilson, Jr. is a Senior Vice President of MorganStanley SmithBarney, and is the son of the founders of The Little Keswick School. Mr. Wilson graduated from The Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, and the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Political Science. In addition, Mr. Wilson serves as the Chairman of the Overseas Schools Advisory Council at the U.S. Department of State, and on Board of Trustees of the Kenan Institute Asia in Bangkok. Mr. Wilson and his wife, Mary, have two daughters and reside in New York.

Sarah L. Brown President
Sarah Brown (Sally) is a retired designer and community volunteer having served on numerous boards and commissions in Virginia. She teaches at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and writes for several architectural journals around the country. Mrs. Brown holds a BFA in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Masters in Architecture and Design Criticism from Parsons in New York City. Currently, she sits on the Board of Trustees of The Virginia Center for Architecture in Richmond, VA and on the Board of Trustees of Shimer College in Chicago, IL. Mrs. Brown was a parent of a child who attended Little Keswick School in 1989-1991.

Wm. Gordon Merrick Treasurer
Gordon Merrick grew up at The Meadows Farm near Gordonsville, VA, attended Grymes Memorial School, Woodberry Forest School and The College of William and Mary, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology (pre-med) in 1971. He taught skiing in Snowbird, Utah for 8 years after college. He returned to Virginia in 1980 and worked the family farm for 3 years before entering the insurance business. Gordon is celebrating his 26th year with MassMutual Life Insurance Company and affiliated companies. Professional designations include: Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, Series 7 Securities Licensed, and Series 65- Registered Investment Advisor. Financial advisory services and products to individuals and business owners as well as estate planning strategies to high net worth individuals include: Life, Health, Disability, and Long Term Care Insurance, college saving plans, and retirement plans. Hobbies include: skiing, golf, photography, and playing the guitar.

J. Dabney Carr, Jr. Corporate Secretary
Dabney Carr graduated from the University of Virginia majoring in English and later the Darden Graduate School of Business of UVa with an MBA. He worked at Citigroup for 31 years and retired in 2007. During that time, he spent 20 years overseas with assignments in Taiwan, Singapore, Australia and Korea and held senior positions in risk and audit. Currently he teaches the Thomas Jefferson Reading Seminar and Corporate Governance at the Darden School and consults with the Promontory Financial Group. He was awarded the Raven Society of UVa. alumni award in 2010. He and is wife Sunny reside in Barboursville Va. and are active in a number of civic and cultural organizations. The have two children.

Sarah K. Brady

David W. Carr, Jr.
David Carr is General Counsel of the Southern Environmental Law Center, a regional public interest advocacy group based in Charlottesville. He formerly directed SELC’s National Parks and Forests program, and currently heads up SELC’s review of renewable energy programs. He is a native of Albemarle County and graduated from Episcopal High School and Princeton University with honors. He received his law degree in 1983 from the University of Virginia. David has been at the forefront of the effort to secure permanent protection for national forest areas in Virginia and throughout the Southeast region. He has also led clean air efforts across the region. David teaches Federal Lands and Natural Resources at UVA Law School. He has served on state and regional boards and is active in Habitat for Humanity. David and his wife, Kathy, have two grown children.

P. Trowbridge Gillespie, Jr.
Paul Trowbridge Gillespie, Jr. is President of NewSouth Capital Management Inc. in Memphis, Tennessee, and is the parent of a former student at Little Keswick School. Trow Gillespie graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969. He currently serves on the Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation Community Advisory Board, the Board of Trustees at Memphis University School, ArtsMemphis Board of Directors, Trezevant Manor Board of Directors, the Executive committee of the Vanderbilt National Commodore Club, and the Board of Governors for Leadership Academy.

Richard H. Jones
Rick is a graduate of Eaglebrook Schook, Choate School, and the University of Virginia. He co-founded Management Services Corporation with Douglas E. Caton in 1973, and has served as it Vice-President, President, and Vice-Chairman (currently). He is a Certified Property Manager (CPM) and Licensed Real Estate Broker in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Rick is a past President of the Virginia Apartment & Management Association. He has testified before the U.S. Congress on lead-based paint and lead in drinking water, and was a member of the HUD’s Title X Lead-Based Paint Task Force. Rick is a past Chairman of the Charlottesville Housing & Redevelopment Authority, having served as a Commissioner for six years from 2004- 2010. He served on the city’s Housing Policy Task Force and Zoning Committee which rewrote the City’s comprehensive plan and zoning ordinance from 2002-2003.
Rick is a real estate investor, owning several multifamily properties in the Charlottesville area. He has been a hands-on manager of commercial, multifamily, single family, shopping center, as well as condominium and home owner associations for forty years; handled complex and large multifamily purchases and sales; negotiated complicated rezoning and site plan approvals; packaged and obtained many real estate loans; advised and consulted for real estate owners including Arthur Ashe, banks, and savings and loan institutions on a variety of real estate projects; served as one of 3 executive leaders managing the growth of MSC from one employee in 1973 to over 250 in 2010; and oversees all company insurance and risk control for a $268 million portfolio.
Rick and his wife, Pat, live in Troy, Virginia and have 3 sons.

Martha E. Kolbe

Cynthia J. Laurencin
Cynthia John Laurencin is the mother of three children, ages 11, 14 and 16. She has been married for seventeen years to Dr. Cato Thomas Laurencin. Her eldest child was a student at The Little Keswick School for four years (age 12-15). He transitioned to a traditional boarding environment the summer of 2010. Mrs. Laurencin has an undergraduate degree in Biology from Hampton University and began her graduate studies in Education Administration at Teachers College, Columbia University. She worked in the field of education for a number of years prior to dedicating her time full-time to the rearing of her children. Her last position was as the Educational Coordinator of the MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound Program. In that role, she provided educational and personal counseling to high school students; supervised and developed teaching/tutorial staff; developed and implemented program policy; was responsible for program and student evaluations and building community relations.
